tomato soup – french bread – goat cheese (I prefer the herb-ish style).
*today was a sunny yet cold/windy day in chicagoIL and we came home with soup in our brains. bernhardt suggested we coat our baguette with goat cheese and dip it in our tomato soup.
IT—WAS—HEAVEN.
and i realized that a small meal like this is a fantastic thing to have on-hand for impromptu hosting. it was delicious and has impressive presentation. plus, everyone loves soup!

Mmmmm….that sounds perfect for a day like today!
Comment by Claire Bidwell Smith May 18, 2008 @ 10:03 pmtoday a train conductor robbed me of 5 bucks. punk’d me. after 36 years of riding that fucking train, and seeing conductors as ambassadors of the people, my trust was stolen for five measly dollars. no more jimmy stewart. i needed comfort food on such a day. my mother made me barely edible srambled eggs with cheap, fatty, tommy fatty ham. its a garbage world today. ken
Comment by warneke ken May 19, 2008 @ 1:59 amand this fucking blog can’t tell time! its exactly 904 pm, nowhere near 2 in the morning, when i’ll be sound asleep, hours from a new day, with an adjusted attitude of trust for train conductors and blogs.
Comment by warneke ken May 19, 2008 @ 2:11 amstill angry, chris farley style. Say it! kw
Oh Ken! I would totally have made you comfort food. Alas…
Comment by everythingonearth May 19, 2008 @ 2:28 amI’m sorry about the train. Perhaps you will get to sneak a Metra ride one day as a payback?
I like “Chris Farley style” anger. It has flare. Next time you come over, we’ll shout from the rooftop!
*and your note about time? Noted. I will change it post-haste…just not now. Technology makes me weary tonight.
